It is also recommended for patients with known malignancies requiring staging or surveillance. Contraindications include pregnancy, severe claustrophobia, uncontrolled diabetes (blood glucose must be below 200 mg/dL for PET-CT), active gastrointestinal bleeding, or inability to tolerate sedation due to severe cardiopulmonary disease.
