What are Zephyr Endobronchial Valves?

One-way valves placed bronchoscopically into the most diseased lobe of an emphysema lung, blocking inhaled air while allowing trapped air to escape. The hyperinflated lobe deflates, allowing healthier lobes to expand — essentially a non-surgical lung volume reduction.

Outcomes

FEV1 improvement: 18-25%. 6MWT improvement: 30-40m. SGRQ quality of life improvement: clinically significant in 60-70%. Pneumothorax: 25-35% (most resolved with chest tube).
