What is MSC Therapy for SLE?

Umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells have immunomodulatory effects — suppressing autoreactive T and B cells, inducing regulatory T cells, and reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines. For refractory lupus (especially lupus nephritis), MSC therapy is a promising experimental treatment.

Who is a candidate?

Outcomes

SLEDAI reduction ≥50%: 60-70% at 12 months. Complete renal remission in LN: 30-40%. Glucocorticoid reduction: 50%+. Durability 3-5 years: 40-50% sustained response. Safety: excellent — no significant adverse events in 300+ patient cohort.
